Hypnotherapy for Children and Teens
HYPNOTHERAPY FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS
Some common Issues hypnotherapy can help with include:
Anxiety, Confidence & Self-esteem, Bedwetting, Nail Biting, Thumb sucking, Nightmares, Anxiety about school, Anxiety about the dentist, Exam nerves, Stage fright, Fussy eating and Pain, clothing sensitivity. Emotional regulation in ADHD or ASD.
The Power of the Imagination
Children and teens can be wonderful subjects for hypnotherapy change work as they are skilled at accessing their imagination and are very willing to engage visualisation, which allows their creative mind do most of the work. We see this all the time when children become engrossed in play or gaming. They really can enter the world of imagination so easily and freely.
Unlike many adults who often struggle to let go and may have fears or blocks about allowing their subconscious mind take control and allow the change work to begin.
Hypnotherapy with children can be accessed through play and conversation.
What Hypnosis Can Do For Children
Children are very susceptible to hypnosis. They are open to new learnings, willing to receive and respond to new ideas, as long as they are presented in an understandable way.
Children are usually easily relaxed and focused. Also, they don’t have the fears and misconceptions about hypnosis that so many adults have.
The benefits of hypnosis with children are the same as for adults.
Hypnosis is a powerful tool in strengthening a child’s confidence and children can experience true success in their lives in all areas. They feel happier, and have a sense of real freedom.
The Session Itself
Regardless of the issues or problems a child or teenager is experiencing, they are treated with full respect and care. The initial consultation will take place with the parent and the child. Parents are of course able to attend with their child. The initial consultation will take place with both the parent and child present.
Children must be over the age of 5 and accompanied by an adult until the age of 14. A parental/guardian consent form can be signed if the parent of a teenager prefers a one 2 one session.
A typical session will last for approximately 1 hour and some activities or exercises may be given to practice between sessions. Most sessions are based around mindfulness, trance through play, exploring new options and eliminating undesired behaviours and developing new positive behaviousrs.
“Hi Orla, we had an amazing week after our visit and she is wearing different clothes now and happy doing the little exercises and the mantra.
This has worked so well so quickly. I cant believe it”
“I definitely recommend Orla for helping with ASD or ADHD kids. My son (15 yrs) has both and can be complexed at times however, he’s now more equipped to welcome change in his own way and his mood is definitely much better. An added bonus is he’s stopped biting his nails. “
